Office of Management and Budget will provide policy guidelines.
The White House announced an investment of $140 million in research and development of artificial intelligence ahead of a meeting with technology CEOs. The funding will go to the National Science Foundation and its new National AI Research Institutes.
Policy guidance on how the federal government will use artificial intelligence will be issued by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the coming months. Tech companies that are developing AI, such as Google, Microsoft, SalesForce, and Open AI, have already committed to participating in the evaluation by the public of AI systems.
